War Memorial at Wing

The War Memorial at Wing stands in the churchyard of All Saints Church, and was officially unveiled by Captain Anthony de Rothschild on 5 December 1920. It has an multi-layered octagonal base, and the names of those Wing men killed in World War One appear around the second layer. On the top layer appears the names of those killed in World War Two and Korea, and there is an inscription on the fourth layer which reads: "To the memory of the men from this parish who gave their lives in the Great War 1914-18. Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord and let light perpetual [shine upon] them". Unfortunately part of the masonry has broken off - the Wing Parish Council is currently fundraising to have repairs undertaken, please email me for their contact details if you would like to contribute.

The following men, along with many others, are listed on my Military Men pages. You may also like to visit the excellent Buckinghamshire Remembers website, or Chris Hinchliff's War Memorials page which also has a very nice photo of the Memorial with wreaths laid around it.
