Wills available for Wing people

Below are listed the reference details for wills of some Wing people. This will not be a comprehensive list, so if you have a copy of one not listed here or are aware of any more, please email me to let me know the details.

Key information extracted from some of these Wing wills is now available on this page or by using the direct links next to the relevant will reference. The more extracts we have the more family connections can be proved or disproved, so please contribute if you can.

PCC Wills (pre-1858)

These wills were proved through the Prerogative Court of Canterbury - this was required when the total value of the estate was more than a certain value, or if the estate's assets spanned more than one diocese, or if the person was prepared to pay the necessary fee to gain the status of having their will proved in the PCC! The wills are available for purchase and download at The National Archives (some of the earlier ones may be in Latin rather than English).

Local Wills (pre-1858)

These wills were proved locally and are held at the The Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies. They now have an online index to the wills they hold, and I'll be extracting the Wing residents and listing them here in due course. The 1686-1695 entries listed below were proved in the Archdeaconry Court of Buckingham, and abstracts can be found in a publication from the Buckinghamshire Family History Society. Those with IR references can be purchased and downloaded from The National Archives as part of their death duty registers.
