Common Pleas Rolls

The Court of Common Pleas heard civil litigation cases from ordinary folk regarding disputes over business debts, property and the like. The Pleas Rolls themselves are essentially an index to the cases, identifying the type of case and the parties involved. More detailed information may be found in the associated year books.

The cases listed below have all been kindly provided by Vance Mead of the Anglo-American Legal Tradition project being undertaken by the University of Houston. They have been digitising and indexing the pleas rolls and providing those images online.
